Disqus Wordpress API supports Seesmic

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

As pointed out on The Inquisitr, "Disqus Updates Wordpress API Plugin, Now Support Seesmic."  Ummm, so yeah, what does that mean to you?  Well, it means the API version of the Disqus Wordpress Plugin gives you a better SEO (Search Engine Optimization).  Which, if you are not a Software Engineer, means that the comments are move visible to Google. (link added in case you want to check out Google)

I originally reported about our partnership with Disqus in May on this blog, and then we followed up with helful directions the next day.

The Inquisitr also points out that this is an interim release, so there could possibly be bugs, Artsy Disqus photoand to consider this a beta.  If you do run into bugs, Daniel Ha, the CEO of Disqus, wants to know so they can fix 'em.  If you want to get hold of this version, you can download it from Disqus here.

And if all all this doesn't seal the deal, perhaps the exceedingly artsy picture of me wearing my Disqus shirt will convince you?  No?  You were conviced already?  Fair enough.

Great post on O'Reilly Radar about Seesmic

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

O'Reilly's blog, O'Reilly Radar says, "a big part of our business is paying attention to what's new and interesting in the world of technology."  So from this mindset comes a post about Seesmic and our Founder and CEO, Loic Le Meur.

The O'Reilly post says a lot of really great stuff so I encourage you to read it, here are a few highlights:

  • The Roadmap set up by Loic is heavily influenced by our users.
  • Adding features
  • Metrics after one month of being open
  • Seesmic mashups from the community

Thank you Ben for this post.

The Truth Is Out There - The X-Files & Seesmic

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

Perhaps the truth is Seesmic?  Fox Mulder was really looking for a great way to have a video conversation?  That's my theory anyway, and conspiracy is the name of the game.  What isn't a X-Files Logoconspiracy is that The X-Files and Seesmic have come together with the help of 20th Century Fox.  But then again, you never know what is being covered up...

My favorite Seesmic BizDever, Cathy Brooks, talks on her blog about how it came together.  So as not to repeat too much, if you want to the story about this partnership from Cathy's perspective, please click the link and check out her blog post on Other Than That.

As of this blog post, there are almost 200 posts on the thread already of X-Files fans discussing everything about what they think the movie is going to be about and sharing their theories about the truth, to anything else that comes up in a conversation.  Fans from all around the world, talking to fans about The X-Files which many have very strong feelings about.  This is the what makes Seesmic so amazing.  I'm a huge fan of the X-Files and am loving watching everyone talk about it on Seesmic.

Ingrid Betancourt freed

[by Jeremy Vaught, Community Blogger - Seesmic]

Two and a half months ago, one of our fantastic video editors, Jeremey, along with Vinvin put together a fantastic video about Ingrid Betancourt.

Just a few hours ago, it was announced that she had been freed along with 14 others that had been captured, including 3 Americans.

This is wonderful news!  Here is our video from the middle of March that has Vinvin and our community talking about Ingrid.

The Seesmic short term roadmap

We thought it would be useful to give an update on the short-term Seesmic roadmap; here's what is super hot on our list right now:

Fix bugs

- Deleted videos by users do not get deleted from some places, like through our API. Top on our   list.-freeze/connection lost sometimes during recording (not that often but annoying)

Features

- Flagging videos for moderation
- Blocking users
- Creative Commons
- Privacy management (posting in private, to groups, allow video profile and user profile to remain private)
- Make improvements to our standalone player
- Include search capability
- Add groups and privacy support in groups (ie post only to groups)
- Stats, number of views
- Let the users download their own videos as mov files or something standard

These are the "hot" areas of focus, while we are actively working on the new Seesmic.com, Seesmic in Twhirl integration, mobile, integration in social software, which we have started and is now embedabble across most of the major blog platforms, including Wordpress, Movable Type, Disqus, Cocomment, Drupal, Dotclear and other tools such as Sprout builder.

Thank-you for your patience while we build all the above and please continue giving us feedback at info@seesmic.com
